REQUEST FOR WORKSHOP PROPOSALS
National Association for Pretrial Services Agencies
53rd Annual Conference and Training Institute
August 30-September 2, 2026 | Reno, Nevada
Deadline for proposal submissions is: March 2, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. EST
Conference Overview
The NAPSA Conference and Training Institute provides participants with the opportunity to review the foundations of pretrial, learn the latest research findings, hear about the implementation of legal and evidence-based practices, and understand current opportunities available to those working in the field.
The Conference will host over seventy workshops, Monday through Wednesday from approximately 8:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. each day, including Wednesday. Most workshops will run 50 minutes, while a few will run for 120 minutes. Some workshops may be repeated.
The goal of each workshop should be to provide attendees with information, tools, or action items they can implement in their own jurisdictions. Conference attendees include pretrial services and diversion program staff, judges, prosecutors, defense counsel, law enforcement, advocacy organizations and policy makers.
Notice to Potential Presenters
Access to exceptional, high-quality educational programs is one of the most important benefits available to NAPSA attendees. Presenters selected to develop and deliver this programming are the most critical part of NAPSA’s success.
NAPSA invites proposals that are innovative and cutting edge; stimulate and engage the audience; are pertinent to a national audience; are mindful of and respectful toward different structures, cultures, and jurisdictions; are supported by legal and evidence-based practices; and are in alignment with the NAPSA Standards. Proposal should not present direct sales or a commercial approach and should not represent political ideologies.
The majority of sessions will feature “general pretrial” content. However, this year NAPSA is seeking select sessions on the following topics:
- Diversion
- Behavioral health
- Data
- Leadership
- Domestic violence/intimate partner violence.
Preference will be given to proposals incorporating adult learning principles (i.e., exercises, audience participation) or that present new research findings. Workshops that highlight the successful implementation of legal and evidence-based practices in a jurisdiction should address how those practices can be implemented in other jurisdictions. Each workshop should allow time for questions and answers.
Please note NAPSA does not pay fees, travel, or hotel costs, or waive conference registration fees for workshop presenters. Conference registration fees are not required for presenters who are present only for their own workshop(s). Reduced conference registration fees are available to presenters attending conference workshops or other events other than the workshop they are presenting.
Proposal Review Process
All proposals will be reviewed by the NAPSA Education Committee and approved by the NAPSA Board of Directors, with the goal to have the preliminary schedule of events available on NAPSA’s website in April 2026
