U.S. Courts - Western District of Texas

Position: United States Probation Officer

Starting Salary: Up to CL 27/13, $66,536 (Salary commensurate with experience.) Transfers within the Judiciary will be considered for a salary match up to CL 28.

United States Probation Officers serve in a judiciary law enforcement position and assist in the fair administration of justice. Incumbents promote community safety, gather information, supervise defendants/persons under supervision, interact with collateral agencies, prepare reports, conduct investigations, and present recommendations to the court. Regular travel is required as a duty function as well as occasional travel outside the district for on-going professional development and training. Officers must be available to routinely work untraditional hours, including evening hours. This position may be in pre-sentence investigation or post-conviction supervision with the caveat that the incumbent could be moved to the other discipline, at the Chief’s discretion, based on district needs. US Pretrial Services Office - Middle District of Florida

Position: U.S. Pretrial Services Officer

Salary Range: $59,133 - $115,213 (CL 27/1 - CL 28/61); starting salary depending upon experience, qualifications, and funding availability.

The Pretrial Services Officer, as a pretrial release investigator and supervision officer, is responsible for providing meaningful assistance to the U.S. District Court in its deliberations and decisions concerning pretrial release of defendants accused of violating federal statutes; and for ensuring public safety through the monitoring and supervision of defendants placed under supervision by the court including defendants on location monitoring. The officer may be assigned duties in any of the aforementioned areas depending on office needs.
