Pretrial 101 – An Introduction to the Essential Elements of a High Functioning Pretrial System

This course serves as an overview (not precursor) of the concepts that will be presented in the day-long intensive session on Sunday, August 30 at the 2026 NAPSA Conference and Training Institute. Attendees will be introduced to the critical stages and legal principles that govern the period between arrest and trial in the criminal justice system, exploring key topics such as bail and detention, arraignment, and constitutional protections afforded to defendants. Attendees will gain an understanding of how pretrial services interact to ensure due process, public safety, and efficient case management.
